Purely from a legal stand point, no. I'm pretty sure they are completely illegal to run in the UK. Someone will be along shortly to correct me.

The 14 year old inside me who played Need For Speed : Underground (and sequel) and watched The Fast and the Furious on repeat would say that a black fifth gen Honda Civic coupe requires green neons.

As someone who's been into modifying cars for 20 odd years, neons were cool for about a month in 1997

Definatley not now,at all

Why do you ask?

I don't like them personally but I don't really see anything wrong with them either. As modifying trends go, they're pretty harmless.

Certainly much better than aftermarket DRLs.

Better and more tasteful than stretched tyres.

I did have an idea once that you could use them as en extension of the pre-existing indicators and brake lights, essentially extending the area that is illuminated by including the ground underneath the car. Not sure if it would work or not.

Better than OEM HiDs, in my opinion.

I love them if fitted right (which they never are......... And you can't see the tubes/ LEDs). I would love to fit blue ones to my pearlescent white exige but sadly no opportunity to fit them (flat under tray)

But yeah big thumbs up from me smile if you can't see the tubes I don't think they would look chav or tacky......probably very subtle.

If you'd have asked this question 10 years ago, you'd have received death threats etc. Now with all the other tat around (stretched tyres, aftermarket DRLs, as mentioned above), they don't seem as bad all of a sudden hehe

I can't see any harm in them - to me they're a bit of fun. Makes me laugh when I see them on scooters.

Why would you want to illuminate the patch of ground the car is standing on?

When we first passed our tests about 10 years ago, a friend had these on his 106 gti. It was when the fast and furious films were in full swing. He had them for about a month before going over some mountainous speed bumps and shattered some of them.

boxedin they did look good to be fair before they were broken

What about neons/LED strips in the engine bay? I was thinking it'd be handy to have some decent light in there, so why not make it a feature too

VAG have come up with a similar idea, the rear fog light uses a laser to cut through fog and draw a line on the road. Not in production yet I don't think.

The very pinnacle of good taste. Used to best effect with a nice set of chrome spinners.

This, really.

I just so don't get them (skirting the taste issue completely).

Other than that and now dealing with the taste issue, normally people who have these display terrible taste in all other aspects of car modification. And with a suitably low budget to perfectly match the quality of the mods with their taste. vomit

Perfect for when you drops your car keys under the car.
