Hi can anyone give me any tips on removing the centre console.
It is ready to come out but I cannot get it over the handbrake lever, I've unbolted the handbrake and slackened the cable as much as I can but no joy.
There's plenty of photos about with the console removed and the handbrake still attached, so I know it can be done.
Any ideas?

It can't be done with the handbrake still attached (at least I haven never been able to). You need to unbolt the handbrake, take the console out then replace the handbrake to take the photo...

Can the handbrake be removed from the top or will the exhaust and heat shield need to be removed to give access underneath.

There is a nut onto a stud at each end of the lever, which you can get to from on top. You don't need to disconnect the cable, just release the brake, undo the nuts and lift the brake lever off the studs. You can then get the console out (passenger door is easier).

You can see the nuts just loosely on the studs in front of and behind the lever here;

Ok that's good. I've tried lifting the lever up but I now think the cable retaining pin must be catching underneath on the bracket, I'll try and push it to one side with a small screw driver so the lever can be lifted up.
Thanks.

This is the sort of angle you are aiming for.
