I took the beast out today, I opened it up somewhat and had the impression I could smell the faint wiff of oil. Got home and the oil pressure was fine, same as ever on tick over about 45PSI. Only, as I drove up a relitivly steep slope into my cars home the oil light flickered for a second or two. I switched off, checked the oil which was full but am now a little worried why the oil pressure light flickered momentarily. The oil was changed by the previous owner just before I bought it, it's very clean but I have no idea if its the correct grade and if this might be the cause? Am I worrying about nothing or should I do some tests before I take it out again? I recently did a comp test and all the pots came up around 250PSI. Can you advise please!

Sounds like a faulty oil pressure sender /switch I would replace with a new one.

The gauge and light have different senders, if the gauge was reading ok then it is likely the the light sender in the middle of the v is at fault, they have been known to fail and leak, mine has in the past, like a little oil fountain from it.
