Hi all. i know you will all say im dum or something.

just bought a 06 corsa for £900
1 owner ( 3 sons had it to build up no claims)

the car. just driven it home ( 100 miles ) all fine

when i was inspecting the car i noticed it had a new wishbone i asked why it was replaced she said because it was pulling to the left, ( i should have questioned it more no idea why i didn't)

when driving home i noticed the steering wheel when driving straight is bent to the left--- also when i take my hands off the steering it pulls slightly to the left.

the panel on the left hand side no signs of respray but rim arch missing?

i did a hpi and it came back clear.... i'm thinking it was in an accident and they didn't declare it maybe. --

next i paid 800 cash 100 bank transfer . should i phone bank and cancel the bank transfer even though its in her account now

thanks for reading

Steering bent to the left? Thinking its been crashed due to have a new wishbone properly down to a worn bush or ball joint.

Im guessing it was a private sale so tough luck its a 900 quid car get it aligned and drive it till it either dies or you crash it.

yeah so but the steering wheel stright and to goes to the right the only way to make it drive straight is if the steering is to the left

So go get it aligned then...

if not drive straight... go to garage and tell them this and they will relieve you of a couple of quid and do it for you.

The bottom arm's probably just been replaced because the bushes and/or ball joint were knackered (perfectly normal wear/tear), and the tracking's not been checked since. Get thee to a half-way decent local tyre place, and get the tracking checked. Cheap and quick.

3 Possibilities really...

The whole car is actually as bent as a banana but not as tasty. Somebody has taken the steering wheel off and put it back on slightly off. Or the tracking is off.

Personally I would take it to a garage and pay to get tracking done, if anything obvious is wrong they will hopefully spot it.

Reading your first post I'm not sure you are cut out for the world of budget motoring?!

Why are you getting in a flap? Poor alignment will make a car feel all over the place.

you can also align a car with the steering wheel off centre. So nothing necessarily sinister there, probably a piss poor job last time it was done.

mighty fine dents you have there.

did you think to ask what happened as arch trim doesn't usually go missing.

Hmm. Not overly concerned about the missing trim. The bumper panel gap seems big though.

Still it's yours now lock, stock and barrel. Caveat emptor.

Advice is no different, get the alignment looked at and take it from there.

I hope I've not fallen into a troll trap but if a car is damaged like that then what makes you think you have any recourse for trying to claim money back when you obviously saw it like that? It'd be like renting a house and complaining that someone lived there before you did. I would avoid the perceptions your company's brand new BMW has given you and look at what you're buying for yourself. If you want a car that lives up to your 1 series then spend >£15k. Otherwise buy with your eyes open as cars for a grand are never going to be in showroom condition.

Chances are it's had a nudge into something - high kerb maybe? That'd bend the lower arm and dislodge the bumper a bit.

For £900 just have a bloke spend an hour sorting the tracking and live with it tbh.
