Yes, admittedly this car does look good. The one thing I noticed though it's not sprayed in it's original colour. Under the bonnet it looks silver to me. That's the thing that made me stop and think. Change of colour effects the value. Otherwise it seem s pretty neat.

There is a well known man with many Wedges who owns an early one of these and I think I remember him changing the rear bumper to a non wrap around. I also seem to remember him saying that the later ones had wrap around bumpers but the early ones had the flush one.

They did indeed have flush ones - black not colour coded (only painted these cos I had a dig at the front)

Not underneath it doesn't!

Interesting that it has those door cards as well at that age, I thought they were more 1985-ish; a sort-of halfway house between the original S1 style with the TR7 door release and the later 'bulging' armrest version with the Metro door release behind the door pull rather than above it.

Correct. The early S1 had a straight rear bumper (looks a lot neater) but this changed for the last few S1s, the +2 and the S2 to the wraparound style as soon as the soft top was launched in Oct 1980. The 200 FHC (retaining the S1 body after it had been dropped for the 280) also had the wrap around. Probably just to standardise the parts for all variants.

Yes they do! I have an original non-wrap around in my garage waiting to painted and fitted :-)

Oliver styled it without the wrap-around, that's good enough for me wink
