Tweaked 993 C2 or 997 GT3 for day of tuition at Bedford?
Discussion
I posted this in the Porsche forum the other day, but it probably should have been put here in hindsight. Any instructors or similar about here who can advise?

Take both. I always take more than one car on a trackday. Sometimes 4 or 5!
A little off-topic but I've often wondered how this works re. dealing with the organisers.Whenever booking it seems the price is per car & driver, with additional drivers attracting a small surcharge. Can you simply negotiate the other way round, have one driver only with a similar small surcharge for additional cars that only you drive?

That's pretty awesome, thanks for the info. I wonder if similar would work if you have two drivers, so long as only one car is out at a time?
Don't plan on taking the piss to get more value out of my entry, but having my still-capable-enough road car as a backup would be good.
yep, I do that as well. As long as only one car out at one time. Not a problem. (as long as you pay for extra driver if required by the TDO)Don't plan on taking the piss to get more value out of my entry, but having my still-capable-enough road car as a backup would be good.
Re the noise issue at Bedford. The limit is usually 101 dB (A).
My TVR was 102dB with no extra silencing last time out at Cadwell Park. It was 99 dB the previous time at the same track with extra silencing.
Cadwell is another MSV circuit and uses the same make and type of noise meters, but has a 105dB(A) noise limit.
Last time at Bedford I was measured at 106 dB(A), so I duly went and added the extra silencer cans......and was still 103 db(A).
They were just about to tell me to go home when PetrolTed (Founder of PH and all-round good guy) rocked up in his GT3 RS(?), of about 2003 vintage.......and failed the noise test, recording 103 dB(A) also. They tried everything, right up to testing it beside the driver's door, to no avail.
So we were allowed on, as they doubted their own equipment and the dull damp atmospherics that March morning, and several other cars that came out at 103-104 dB(A) were also allowed on.
None of us failed the drive-by test all day. So be aware that you might have a problem, and be persistent. Insist that you were 98 dB last time. Try asking to go on track anyway, and go home if you fail the drive by. Then make sure you don't pass those pesky meters alongside three other cars, or at full chat in any gear. They are easy to spot.
BTW, I had a ride in PT's GT3 - awesome, considering it sounded like the power unit in the back had been designed by James Dyson. 150 mph into the chicane on the long straight had me braking in the passenger seat well before Ted did.
True brown trouser moment that i won't forget quickly.
