anyone own an old Soviet watches? I've bought a few and they're coming from the Ukraine (I hope) in next couple of weeks. This could be a collection in the making so interested to know what people think or have experienced, curiosities to look out for etc. thanks

I bought this in a market in Gdansk the other month. I only bought it because I liked it, but it keeps lousy time, I've not looked for the regulator on it yet.

A burgundy one of those was in my haul! Great looking things I think.

Everyone should own a Russian watch at some stage. Especially the cheap and cheerful stuff...

Raketa 24 hour: -

Vostok Amfibia (Scuba Dude): -

I know that there are one or two (certainly of the latter) on PH. I have another couple somewhere but can't find them at the moment. frown

all comers welcome!

incidentally, here are the ones i have incoming (apologies if you watch the incoming thread). i know some of them are on the weird side and not for everyone, but that's kind of what i like about them. Pretty excited! I'll be getting a 'wedding watch' next year which will probably represent a more chunky investment, however I plan to give them equal wrist-time.

Some interesting pieces there, especially the one that's third from the bottom.

I just got one this week actually, but I don't have any photos of it yet. Here are a few others I have:

I recently started collecting Russian watches. I am really not sure how I managed to get as interested as quickly as I did because previously I'd not been bothered about watches. I find them really interesting and because most of them are not that expensive it's a nice hobby which doesn't break the bank.
I've ended up with 10 so far plus another 2 on the way. The two on order are a Raketa Big Zero and a Slava both from the Soviet period. I really like the older ones and the ones I have all run well.
Here's a few of my favorites so far.

Komandirskie sold only in the CCCP Ministry of Defence shops

A Soviet era Amphibia - I love wearing this it is really comfortable to wear

A modern Komandirskie K34

A Modern Amphibia 090

Sorry to hijack the thread. Does anyone know where I could get an old Vostok repaired? Non of the local watch shops will touch it.

Thanks. A German vendor has a NOS watch for sale in both early and late styles on eBay. They're up for about £190-£250 IIIRC. The later style has the tachymeter scale embossed into the bezel, is cheaper and easier to read - definitely the one I'd go for.

Yes that one would be my choice as well. To be honest I've not got into Chronographs yet but I can see the attraction. Apparently a few years ago you could pick them up for a lot less money.
