I've always had Goodyear Eagle tyres and been very happy with them. For some reason there don't seem to be many Asymmetric 2s around at the moment. The EfficientGrips are around the same price, have the same wet grip rating (A) but a higher fuel efficiency rating (C). Are they worth considering in place of the F1s? This would be for a B6 S4.

It depends what you want from the tyre (and the size)

If you're after comfort and MPG, yes.

Wet grip won't be /that/ much different, but the efficientgrip performances have sidewalls made out of jelly and hope, so they'll feel horrible in comparison to the Asymmetric 2, which will be much sharper to turn, provide much more body control and give a nice "sporty" feel.

If you're looking at a size the EGP and F1A2 are both made in, it must be something like 225/50 R17?

Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas are a nice alternative if you can find some:

Size is 235/40 R18.

Thank you for the feedback, I'll stick with the Asymmetric 2s!

I had the efficientgrip performances on my RX-8 and they were horrid. Preferred the Kumho tyres that they replaced.

Does anyone know what:

Mould Version R1

means?

Goodyear use the RX number to note pattern updates, usually for tyre labelling.

So it's not relevant to me then?

It means it will be a newer version of the tyre than if it didn't have R1. The differences, who knows. At the moment it's usually a slightly softer / lighter construction to help with RR and noise.

I don't think I've seen an R2 on a tyre yet.

Thanks Jon, much appreciated.

I managed to find the Asymmetric 2s on Camskill for £110. Thank you all for your advice.
