I really like my 996 it`s super but I do think it would be a safer if it was front wheel drive only.I know there are lots of groovy technoheads out there that also drive Germanys finest and could tell me if it`s just a matter of undoing the screws on rear drive thingys and adjusting something to divert all the power to the front wheels, this would also have the benefit of saving wear on the rear tyres and stop the tendancy to skid sideways sometimes.
All suggestions gratefully recieved.

Seasonal greetings to you all.

You could just try driving everywhere in reverse.

Forget the skoda, I've got a 1996 P-reg nissan primera with a youthful 97K on the clock. Now normally these are worth about 50p, but this one is worth at least £50K due to its unique orange colour. Metallic orange none the less. I can be yours in a straight swap for the C4S if you deliver.

Sounds to good to be true Greig, what`s the catch ? Ive swopped the wheels around to give the car a more balanced look and more grip to the front but it`s making rubbing noises and I`m afraid of driving all the way to Scotland by myself.

Happy new year.

Weren't older Skodas rear engined and rear wheel drive? - a bit like a 911 really

Yeah, Skoda Rapide ("coupe" thing) was rear engined and IIRC Autocar road test said something like "as much fun as a Porsche!"

What you need to do is remove the engine in the boot... it's just taking up room that you could fill with shopping.

You can then attach a couple of starter motors to the front wheels and control them with a big box of AA batteries under your seat.

Hey presto... front wheel drive and more shopping room!!!!

(oh yeah - remove the rear wheels as well, it'll make the car lighter and if you don't have the engine in the back any more, you won't need any wheels)

Just trade in your 996 for a Boxster and then drive that in reverse.

It looks the same whether coming or going anyway ...duck as Don throws something large and mid-engined at me... so no-one will notice the difference except you!
