...or at least you'll be disappointed if you never own one.

For me, even though there's lots of new cars that I would prefer to own than a new 911, it's a Porsche 911 because if things go OK, I have a fairly realistic chance of owning one, one day and being able to afford to keep it on the road. The 996 in general, is my least favourite 911 but the GT3 version is a different matter (preferably in black)

Although my friend's dad has a (speed?) yellow one and that's rather nice too!

However, if I stay the wrong side of the Atlantic, I would be pretty disappointed if I never owned one of these (V8 natch) or at least didn't own one for a bit before I come back!

Mazda RX-7. I just have to know what it's like. There are several other cars that I "have" to own one day but this is the first and most achievable one for me right now.

A Ferrari.

That is the day I can put my feet up and say I have achieved my dreams.

A 355 or 360 would be preferable but even a Mondial would be enough for me to die happy.

For me it's a Ferrari F40 and a Lamborghini Countach..... Although I think I would park the Countach in a glass cage and mount it in the garden rather than drive it :-)

TVR Cerbera. 4.5 preferably. Got a feeling it's always going to be 'just' out of reach...

The car i felt like this about that was realistic i bought 18 months ago, i can't think of anything realistic for me that i'd rather have. if we're talking absolute dream cars then there are loads, most are very predictable F40, Eagle Speedster, P1, Miura SV etc.

saying that though as i get older maybe i'll have a different idea of what the car i must own will be

Integrale Evo. Also an Aston V8 Volante from the '80s. And an E46 M3 CSL (Edit - beaten to that by Funk!).

What you really should have is the black car in front of (naturally wink ) that Porker. A Vette is better than a
"Mugstank" any day, but I am a bit biased.

I've had a 911 and may have another in a couple of years but I've always said I'll get an Aston one day. Perhaps I'll make it my next car - a V8 Vantage S would be good.

The company I'm doing a contract for at the moment is owned by a chap who has just recently taken delivery of a 2014 Vanquish having replaced his DBS!

snap - just like the lines and the fact they have a six banger up front

Tuscan, 911 and any older Aston Martin are the 3 on my bucket list
