SVM Qashqai R at Vmax200: Time For Tea?

Just how fast can you make a Qashqai go? Very, with a little injection of GT-R

In the world of internetdom it is A Proven Fact no subject matter is more divisive or likely to kick off an online ruck than the Nissan GT-R. Multiplied by a factor of about five when someone inserts the running gear from one into the body of a Qashqai and makes big claims about horsepower and hypercar beating performance stats. Yes, it's a welcome return to Severn Valley Motorsport's 1,000hp-plus Qashqai R and a chance to continue the debate about whether, legally speaking, it's a Qashqai converted into a GT-R or the other way around. Because in the heated discussion that followed our last story on the car that seemed to be the most pressing concern, not the fact it's apparently done a sub-10 quarter mile with all interior fixtures and fittings still in place. And has been offered for sale at £275,000.

To pour further fuel on the already incendiary debate here's another video from the guys at SVM showing the Qashqai recording some frankly ludicrous speeds at the recent Vmax200 event at Bruntingthorpe. There were some faster cars than the Qashqai but only a couple. And the list of cars that it equalled or beat includes LaFerrari, Lamborghini Aventador, Bugatti Veyron, Ferrari F12 and more.

So here, with the pin pulled, is another Qashqai shaped grenade lobbed into General Gassing and a chance to debate whether it's speed that matters. Or what the car is registered as with the DVLA.

See the vid here.

I love that a Nissan Qashqai is holding it's own against LaFerrari, Lamborghini Aventador, Bugatti Veyron, Ferrari F12. Just sounds hillarious laugh

Well they certainly came through with the goods!! I'm astounded they managed to get something that generates so much drag to 207mph, never mind doing it in the same amount of space as a Laferrari and Veyron needed to reach the same speed yikes impressive.

Did you notice the tax disc was out of date? 2012!

Only kidding, yeah pretty impressive for something so un-aerodynamic. The top speed was done by a 9e 996 not running totally right too, who needs a modern supercar ?

It's just physics. Put enough power in ANY car and you too can do 9 sec quarters.

+1
They could have at least used a good-looking car for the awesome powertrain.

Well, it's a bit more than that, isn't it. Put 1000bhp in a Corsa B with no other changes and you won't be doing anywhere near 9sec quarters.

idea Now a GTR engined Cube would be a real sleeper!

Aerodynamically it might hit a brick wall however as it approaches 200 mph.

I was thinking 200 might be a bit ambitious for a Cube, not without another 600bhp!

Indeed. There's a hell of a lot of changes to the Corsa B of Allan Duthie helping it get into the 9 second club.
