My rear tyres need changing soon and looking for abit of advice.

I currently have 265/35/19 Conti Sport Contact 3s on the rear(which are down to about 3mm) and 245/35/19 Conti Sport Contact5Ps on the front with about 6.5mm (which were fitted on the car when I purchased it earlier in the year).

Having done my research it is evident that Michelin Pilot Super Sports are the tyre to go for, however my question is will the Mich Super Sports be ok on the rear with the Conti Sport Contact 5Ps on the front? Or Am I best getting the Conti Sport Contact 5Ps put on the rear? and keeping all 4 tyres the same brand/tread pattern?

Has any one run a set up of Conti SC5 on the front with the Mich Pilot Super Sport on the rear?

Just to add when the fronts need replacing (should be a good few thousand left in them yet) I would plan to replace with the Michelin Pilot Super Sports (providing I o for them on the rear this time).

Also the cost difference is only £50 for the two tyres between the Conti and the Mich so this isn't a factor.

I wouldn't personally, I think the inbalance will cause more understeer in that combination..

Agreed. Sidewall stiffness will be different too. I would fit 4 Mich SS and sell the current tyre on ebay. The SS are that good, you won't regret it, I promise. They even take some track abuse, surprisingly.

Changing all four is alright if you have deep pockets but if not then get the Michelin Super Sports on the rear and wait until the other wear out and ideally replace them with the same tyre.

As long as you have the same tyres and wear on the same axle you will be fine.

You might want to be a bit more picky if you are going to track her or be constantly driving on the limit.

You really don't need deep pockets to buy 2 front SS to match the rear. I would guess the additional outlay would be around £120 after the proceeds of selling the old tyres on ebay. Well worth the money.

Get the Super Sports fitted, so much better in everyway.
