Ford paying motoring press extra money or not

Hi i have been browsing the internet and majority of forums always seem to recommend a Ford over a Vauxhall, i mean the astra mk6 (we have one in family) sports tourer 2.0 CDTI Elite it's a nice car to drive isn't bland inside compared to previous astra and seems well put together and built, however most sites on internet recommend every ford model over every vauxhall model, so im thinking is it ford that pay the motoring press extra money and then every forum member looks on WHATCAR or whatever and then advises other members posting 'should i get an insignia or mondeo' get the mondeo miles better than the insignia, i dont get how at all that ford is of a higher quality than a vauxhall is

Please note i have made this thread to have a reasonable discussion and im genuinely interested in finding out about this so would only respectful members post and not members saying vauxhalls are st etc without reason thanks
