Hello.

My old license plate was M20 RTC. I had to sell it with a car a few years ago but I really want to try and get it back. I checked online and it is apparently on a SEAT IBIZA SPORT and is insured. Anyone know how I can find out the address or any details for it so I can contact the person and ask if I can buy it off them?

Thanks

You can't.

DVLA won't pass on a letter or give you the keeper's details, since "I want to buy their plate" isn't deemed an acceptable reason (and quite right, too - can you imagine the "We want to buy your plate!" advert chaos if they did?).

Best you can do is google regularly, hope the owner's into forums and isn't one of the paranoid-about-putting-plate-on-web brigade.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Saw a nice porker in the car park. I wonder where it lives so I can pop round and take it for drive without permission.

You could always put an ad on Facebook to get the owner to contact you.

Set yourself up as a car park operator and send the DVLA a couple of quid.

As per above, you can't as noone who holds or has the data will be allowed to give it you.

My dad rebuild an MG Midget 25 years ago and i tried to trace it without joy, its was taxed and insured but owners clubs etc got me no joy.

Might do if you have reasonable cause https://www.gov.uk/request-information-from-dvla

Might they have parked on your land and need a ticket?
