Nav/Mode/Phone Buttons etc. Lit when pressed?
Discussion
Quick question Vantage S 2015 MY
I have noticed that on the array of buttone Back/Nav/Phone/Menu/FM/Mode
the only button that actually lights the associated legend whne pressed/enabled is NAV
If I press, say, Phone or Mode those legends do not light up (but Nav goes off as you would expect)
Is that correct?
Makes it difficult to see what you last pressed and thus what the menu or back buttons will action
Does not seem logical but then not much is with regard to that area of the dash!

You think that sounds illogical, try finding out what the button labeled TP in the center console is for!
TP is easy - traffic announcements (it stands for traffic programme) but it's a function of RDS FM radio which you might not have in the states. As for the dashboard lights, I can check when I'm home but that won't be until tomorrow

Yes, that's the funny part. In the USA, the owner's manual says that this button is not in use. Pressing it causes "TP" to be shown on the infotainment display, but nothing else happens. Pretty useless, really. As for the dashboard lights, I can check when I'm home but that won't be until tomorrow

John, mine's the same (no surprise there then). All those buttons are illuminated white and only the Nav one changes to yellow when switched on. I see no reason why ANY of them need to change colour since their functions are all self evident when operated i.e. you know when the Nav is on and you can see the Menu and Phone when the buttons are pushed. Or am I missing something? I have noticed that on the array of buttone Back/Nav/Phone/Menu/FM/Mode

The ergonomics and not the best and the technology is certainly way behind current standards. I'd expect to see a touch screen for nearly all functions in the new cars when they arrive.

Thanks Ian. Yes I think you are missing something since it is not quite self evident. There are various buttone (menu, back and the toggle behind the volume control for example) which behave differently depending whether in Nav, Rsdio or Phone mode.

Oh and personally I hate touch screens!

Smudges! Oh and personally I hate touch screens!
My new iPhone 6 appears to be pretty smudge-proof, so perhaps there is a way ahead.
