howdy-doo!

I picked up my v8v from the body shop, had v12v installed including n420 carbon diffuser.
All looking great and pics to follow.

On the highway back i noticed vibrations in the steering wheel at around 130-140 km/h.
Stopped at gas station, filled up tires, checked if there were new balance weights placed on (yes there were).
Continued again, and still had vibrations.

So problem comes down to:
- bad wheel-ballancing
- the front tyres or on backwards or left and right front wheel are on incorrectly.

First one i cannot tell obviously with the naked eye, however regarding the latter i made a pic of my right front wheel.
Anyone able to tell me if its on correct.

I had this once with a motorcycle which caused vibrations because the wheel was on other way round.

Much obliged.

Those tyres are probably asymmetric so should have "outside" marked on them i.e. it doesnt matter if they are swapped left to right

Thnx.

But doesnt that apply to new tyres only? Once they have been driven one way you cant swap it...?

Nope. The wheel & tyre are still rotating in the same (correct) direction.

If you are concerned about uneven wear rates, get your tracking checked.

yes
RE050's are directional
Get the balancing and geo checked

I've never noticed a wheel vibration from having it put on backwards - it's quite common to do that for dry racing on some tyres.
If the tyre is directional, it will have an arrow with 'Direction' written next to it.

First check is to get the tyres looked over for ovality/damage/flat spots and re-balanced if needed.

the tyres were perfect before wheels refurb, after it it started a very noticable shaking at 130km/h, so i will get it balanced and at the same time outlined.

I have had tyres that have worn into a specific wheel hub balance, in that they spent all their life on the same place/studs, that were perfectly balanced but when removed and not replaced exactly as before ie same position on the same hub, resulted in vibration which could not be fixed by re-balancing.

These were not on a Aston, but were half or three quarters worn tyres on my DD when I did high mileage. Now days I always mark the wheels hub position so I can put them back exactly where they were before.

Just had to do this recently after the car came back from the garage with a vibration and it again solved the issue.

Good point
I've got in to the habit of marking the closest stud to the valve so I can put the wheels back on in the same orientation.

I had my front wheels swapped accidentally by a wheel refurbished once. The tread blocks on both front tyres 'kicked up' - you could actually see a slant on the blocks and there was some vibration but I don't think it was at a specific speed. A speed sensitive vibration suggests a balance issue.

As the wheels have been refurbished, make sure that any centering rings that were there before have been refitted.
