Had the strangest dream last night. I entered a competition and was told I had won!!

Had to choose between a manual Audi R8 V10 spyder on a 2010 plate or a Ferrari 430 F1 spider on a 2007.

They both have a resale of about £70k. Which one would you take and why?

Which ever one would be easier to sell, so I could get the coupe version.

Whichever was easier to sell so I could pay off the rest of my mortgage. Neither hugely appeals to own. smile

If I was to choose one to have then the F430.

The R8 while undoubtedly very good is to me just an Audi and it just doesn't look like a supercar. The Ferrari is something special.

As per the previous posters though, in reality I'd drive it for a short while then sell it so in reality whichever had the better resale value! smile

Having driven both (OK, on experience days!!), definitely the Ferrari. Drove an 07 plate on-road a few years ago, lovely drive & that noise right behind your head... cloud9
Drove the Audi on track at Elvington (think it was a 10 or 11 plate), very competent & fast, but just didn't have that "something" that the Ferrari had, also found the driving position fairly awkward.

EDIT - just had a look at the experience company website - might have been the V8 R8 I drove.

F430, drive it for a year then chop it in to get a deposit for a mortgage.

If you'd won it and could choose the company will usually let you take a cash alternative, so cash.

Otherwise the Ferrari.

I used to enter the 'Best of the Best' supercar competition every month, and used to wonder what I'd do if I ever won it. They do offer cash equivalents, but I always figured that I'd have something, keep it for a while and sell it, on the basis that if I just had the cash in the bank, I'd never buy something that flash with it. So it would be the only way I'd experience owning or driving one of these cars, and as much as that appeals, the ongoing stuff doesn't.

I also wondered whether I'd have the R8 or something more flash (often an R8 in BoTB when I was doing it), and tended to discount the R8 on the basis of having something that flash, taking it in to the dealers for a service and getting an A2 as a loan car. But then, at least there's a dealer to take it to without it turning into a big production just to get it serviced.

Isn't it odd how looks divide opinion? I would say that the R8 looks far more like a supercar than a F430.

Edit: I never answered the question: R8, because V10!

Friend of my daughter's has a car dealer Dad. Last summer he pulled up outside our house in a black R8 V10 spider. It had real presence and made a beautiful sound. Not really my cup to tea but the fact that the badge was Audi did not detract from the sense of occasion.
