Audiolab 8200CD or Rega Dac R
Discussion
Chap's
A very quick one, I have an Audiolab CD player but am thinking of buying a Rega Dac R as they have been recently reduced would this be a good move?
This would make the Audiolab a standalone player with the use of a dac.
How good is the Audiolab Dac compared to the Rega one.
Thanks

No substitute for getting one on demo and doing some listening.
From a price comparison I would be surprised if there was a huge difference. But it all depends on your system. I auditioned the Audiolab last year and was impressed but not that impressed. Ended up with the Chord QuteHD which did seem a big step up.

Depends on what you want out of the system, I demo'd both of these units and found that they both sounded cracking as you would expect, I just preferred the Audiolab - had them on loan for about 2 weeks and listened to them for hours, the Rega had some options to change the filter but although I tried this I didnt find it made much difference and I thought I wouldn't get out of my chair to do it either.
after the 2 weeks I found each time I turned the system on I just went for the audiolab... been solid every since
This is using chord cables to a naim amp and kef r500's...
