Morning all,
I've been trying to find a good comparison of chassis types but my googeling skills have failed me.

Can any Academy car owners tell me what the passenger footwell is like on the race chassis? I know its shorter but not sure if it's short enough to be a problem, or just, well, shorter than the road chassis.

Thanks
James.

I have a race chassis on my car with the shortened passenger footwell.

It's not a massive difference (a little more than a Banner battery width)so, as a rough guide, about the same length as it would be to the pedals on the drivers side - if that makes sense?

Chrisp5782,

many thanks - I wanted to check it didn't unduly restrict passengers' ability to fit in the car and it sounds like it doesn't,

cheers,
James.

I think the chassis is the same size just the race chassis has a flat footwell where as the road chassis has a bowed footwell that rivets to the same tubes

The battery is much lower in the chassis (to give a lower C of G) than a standard item, it's this that creates the need for a shorter passenger footwell (the battery is where your passengers feet would normally be).

This means the chassis has to be slightly different to accommodate the battery and is denoted by an "R" in he chassis number.

I'm 5'11" and have passengered in a short footwell car with no problems. OK, you can't stretch out your toes like in a standard car, but it was comfortable enough. Would be more than roomy enough for most lady passengers.
