So finally finished fitting all my shiny stuff on the Cerb.
Was ready to start it up, just need to fit the short induction hoses....
They didn't fit over my self-made aluminum backplates mad
they worked with the purple ones because they had a little more give.
Of course I threw away my old backplates :roll eyes: and I already gave away the purple hoses...

So now i'm in search for some backplates. if anyone has a spare?

I know ACT has them but £200 + VAT is ridiculous for 2 pieces of plastic...

Thanks!

The ACT ones are carbon fibre. Rather nice if I do say so smile

Yes i know smile but way to expensive IMO
Not that I can't afford it. It's just not worth it...
But I think I don't have much of a choice

Plus points are that you'll be doing what's important (i.e. driving the car) much quicker if you just do it, and also that they won't collapse/crush under the jubilee clips.

Have you tried immersing the end of the pipe in hot water to soften it a touch, or even a hot air gun (careful not to burn it) to make it more pliable?

These 'tricks' have saved loads of time for me in the past with awkward installs.

I completely agree, a pair of back plates for £250 is absurd - but I may well be contradicting myself. The build quality of the factory air-boxes is appalling. Their main function should be to stop foreign bodies entering combustion chambers - but there seem to be far too many tales of folks with engines bust wide open - which would be financially catastrophic for me.

Well i tried but the aluminium funnels i used are tapered.
And a bit too long. The back ones will go on but the rest wont.

Indeed. Fiberglass wouldn't be my first choice for airboxes either.
If you look inside and see all the fibers sticking out, you can only hope they won't go in the engine.
Maybe ill make some aluminium ones one day
