The check tyre / yellow sign has been on for the past week. The tyres don't look flat - they all look the same and although the road-to-bottom-rim height looks thin, it looks like that on all the wheels, and on my neighbour's Vantage, and on some online photos of other AMs. That height hasn't changed during the week either.

I should get a tyre pressure gauge but I've been busy and living in central London the local petrol stations don't have one.

Any guesses as to why it might be lit up?

How old is the car? Could the batteries in the sensors be on their way out? (IIRC, they have a life of approximately 5 years).

Interesting idea. The car is 7 years old. The main battery is new, I didn't know the sensors had their own batteries.

Slow puncture at a guess. You know petrol stations even in London have air lines. Some even give a pressure reading.

OP
Get yourself on of these, take away any doubt and it's a lovely thing to use.

Could just be the drop in ambient temp put the pressure below the alarm
Might be an idea to use it for it's intended purpose and check the tyre pressures wink

Thanks all and sundry. I'll buy the gauge, and get the chaps with the spanners to check the batteries next time it's in for something.

I reckon that will be it then. Check the control box in the passenger footwell. I imagine that one or more of the lights will be on.

You can't change the battery in the sensor. Each new sensor is, IIRC, £65 to £200 depending if you buy them from AM or elsewhere. Then you'll obviously have to pay for tyre removal and refit on top of that.

Or, you could just unplug the system and be done with it. That might, however, require you to check your tyre pressures slightly more regularly. wink

May be worth getting one of your spanner men to check the oil level periodically too.
Or maybe you could even do it yourself. Just a thought smile

The car was at Spanners R Us just last month getting its annual massage; I presume sensor batteries are not on the checklist (if that's what it is).

I fixed this problem. They have these machines at Shell that can inject additional air into your tyres, and for some reason when you do that, the 'check tyres' light goes off.

Is communism where everyone is equal, and so
if you cannot afford an Aston Martin, you will be given one?

Possibly. However the tokens for the tyre pressure machine will still have to be paid for.
