Sad and Lucky

Sad :
Sunday afternoon, very good weather for a drive with my chim.
After half an hour of pleasure, i overtake a car and suddenly.......a pothole.
My front left wheel hit this pothole.... A big crack and i lost my steering wheel.
A inner Tie-rod broken.

look at the results:





lucky:
just 15 stiches for my left hand and many bruises on the right of my body.

Definitely lucky, cars can be replaced but people can't.
Glad you're ok, chim up and all that.

Wow - been there, done that as well (lost first Chim in tunnel at 70mph in ice). Survived to tell the tale - got another Chim. Glad you are ok. I notice you are in France so not sure on legal position but if that was in the UK I would be taking advice I'm action against local authority for the pot hole being there in the first place!

Firstly glad your ok and on the mend. I agree with swallet, if you can take action against the council. But like most councils they would probably try to turn it around and charge you with dangerous driving or something. The only good things councils are go at is??? I better stop writing now as l don't want this thread removed.

Thanks for your messages. My health is good but the chim is considered as a wreck.
I could engage an action against the local authorities but my lawyer says : very expensive cost for not to be sure of the result , in France the DDE is too strong to be inquieted.
I prefer to spend my energy to obtain a good compensation for the car damages. ( I need another Chim for my personal health....)

I must admit, I do occasionally wonder about the fragility of my car, when I'm driving it enthusiastically. If something were to fail and cause a fatal accident, it could very easily end up being attributed to driver error etc. Cheerful soul, me!

About the same subjet, one of my friend has said to me, take care also to the nylstops which are holding the lower front wishbone, they often are unscrewed and the screw is rusted. It is not easy to see but essential for our security

Judging by the photo, the screen has moved back because the doorgap is now less than normal. It could have been much worse for you! I agree that it will likely be 'written off.'

Commiserations, glad your ok and as others say cars can be replaced, mine is currently being repaired so know how you feel, get looking for its replacement!!

I can't believe I used the Americanism "tie rod", next I'll be saying "tires" and really pi33ing myself off!

I believe you can obtain a supply from a Mr D Cameron of London SW1. He may just have finished using them after his comments about HM The Queen "purring" down the phone after she kept her highland holiday home.......
