Theres an adaptation that has been working quite well recently.. involving a lacuna with S172 and PACE. Have a look at Mawdesley v Chief Constable of Cheshire Constabulary and then Pepipoo Witness Statement

Various people on Pepipoo have managed to use this route to escape p(er/ro)secution from the lovely hairdryer wielding lifesavers! e.g. Here
