Anyone had any experience of the above?

I have the TX-L42E6B at the moment, which is a brilliant TV with an excellent picture, though I feel that a slightly larger screen may benefit my seating re-design as I'm now a bit further away.

The 50" seems to have all the features of my old one, with the benefit of built in Freetime, of which I know little, and a dual core processor. I don't want to go any bigger than 50" as it would mean a lot of room altering, though any other suggestions/recommendations would be appreciated.

I'm not bothered about sound as it will go through an amp, and I don't want 3D though, whilst preferring Panasonic, would consider other makes.

Thanks for reading.

I've got the 42AS600B, so the same model with a smaller screen.

Picture quality is excellent, smart tv is easy to use, freetime provides "catch up tv" - BBC iplayer, itv player, 4 on demand, 5 on demand, etc. via the apps built into the tv (so no need for an extra box).

Don't confuse freetime with freesat.

Panasonic were/ are offering a 5 year warranty with certain models - the 42 inch version I got came with it, so it's worth checking about the 50 inch model.

Alternatively, buy from Richer Sounds - teles come with 5 year warranty.

Feel free to ask anything else - HTH.

Thanks for the reply. Having done loads of homework on this I've decided to go for a 55" instead as it will probably fill the room better. I looked at so many different models and specs, my eyes were practically starting to bleed, there's just so much stuff out there.

I decided to go with a Samsung (UE55H6500), as Panasonic couldn't touch it price (or feature) wise. It does have 3D which I wasn't bothered about really, but all in all it's hopefully a good buy at less than £850.

I am aware of the Free-time thing on the Panasonic models, though the Sammy has all the relevant players included in the smart system so it's basically just the backward EPG I'll be missing as far as I can make out. It also has a Free-Sat decoder in it, though I can't seeing this getting used as I have a multi-sat system (motorised) already connected. smile

Just got to sell my old one now. biggrin

Hi, can you pm me with contact details regarding your tv? I've seen it on the MB forum this afternoon but I don't have enough posts to reply/contact you!

Cheers,

Steve

now i have the exact same tv, and was purchased primarily because it offered catch up tv /on demand. The problem i have, is "on demand" and "showcase" no longer actually work.

RED 4 - does this actually work on your tv now? tried resetting tv etc. panasonic not interested and blame freetime, and freetime say there is no problem.

if it does nor get resolved soon, the tv will be going back.

Yes, all "on demand" stuff works - showcase isn't live yet though according to my tv - it says "coming soon".

If you can get the "on demand" stuff via your lap-top/ computer at home via your wi-fi and your tv is connected to the internet it must be a problem with your tv set.

I'm assuming you've connected to your router by entering your code, etc ...
