Cheap auto saloon 330i v x-type v s60
Discussion
Morning all
Here's my situation and some advice and views are sought
I recently broke my left Tib and fib in an off-road motorbike accident and I will not be able to drive a manual car for at least two months. Both my cars are manual! My wife drives an auto but only has an auto license so we can't swap for the duration.
I have a Clio 172 as a run around which will go and a 996c4s which will stay and my wife's car is an XC90 diesel which is also staying.
I have a 11 mile commute involving half dual carriageway and half quite heavy city traffic and I also sometimes take my youngest to nursery and shuttle both children around at the weekend in my car if my wife is off doing something else with the Volvo so more space than the Clio would be advantageous and four doors is a must.
Hence I have decided to sell the Clio, economical and fun as it is, and get one of the three choices from the thread title.
Budget is £2500-30000. I will keep this car for 2 years so I don't want a total banger, ride comfort is a factor, economy less so as I will only about 8000 miles per year.
After 3 days of trawling the classifieds and trader I reckon the three above all fit my criteria
Jag: like the interior and ride comfort in SE spec, quite decent performance, looks are not too bad but not a positive
BMW: probably the best too drive but a bit obvious and less good ride?
Volvo: high on comfort, diesel an option here too to help running costs but T5 also tempting
What do you guys think?
Not keen on early 2000s c-class as I think it looks effeminate , Vectras and Mondeos no because of wife's badge prejudice, also not that keen on going too large so haven't really considered 5 series size.
Should I look at Audi A4s?

Haven't drive the others, but I'd be happy with the 330i. Might want to check the boot for size though, we had a touring and it wasn't huge. We would have struggled with the saloon. Had a 328i, lovely engine, comfortable enough on SE suspension, although my brother in law's M-sport 330i was more fun
. Only got rid of it because SWMBO crashed it. Tried an A4 and owned an A6 after the 3 series; felt more sensible, but dreary in comparison. Did everything you asked it, but in a slightly disapproving manner
