Morning all,

Sold my M135i about 4 months ago, got a good price for it so only lost £1400 in the year I had the car, very lucky I think considering the amount that now seem to be on the market.

The money is looking nice in the bank but I find myself looking for something new and exciting! My wife and I share her car a 116d efficientdynamics as we work together, not quick but incredibly cheap to run!

So what I am looking for is something under 3 years old, not expensive to run, premium badge, strong residuals and I think a 6 cylinder diesel but wondered what others thought on what to do next!

Budget up to £26k

Thanks all

Why does it matter to you, why is it of any consequence? And why so many question marks?

Varied response, mixed reasons, great engine and auto box but the looks still did not sit comfortably with me. Main reason for selling was the twitchy ride at speed maybe I should have spec Adaptive Suspension I also wasn't using it enough. Waste of money having it sat in the garage or car park all day (3 mile journey to work).

640d great call looks gorgeous and almost as quick as 135 but with better comfort and mpg!

I'm 26 so only worry is I might look bit 'old man!' as the wife suggests!

Im also 26 with a M135i.

640d will be on my list to look at, but yes agree its very old man unless you have an M6. Plus whilst it might be nearly as quick on paper, it would probably feel boring and heavy by comparison.

26k can buy you a lot of car, but you need to be more specific. How many miles you doing? do you have sufficient disposable income to run an ageing previously more expensive sports car?

Plus twitchy ride at speed? If this was bad enough to make you want to sell the car then either you had an issue with yours or you are driving at insane speeds everywhere! My car gets driven fairly hard (average 20-23mpg) and I find the slightly softer suspension compared to its competitors actually help the car iron out imperfections in the road therefore making it less twitchy than others. Unless of course you are using the accelerator like an on or off switch and driving it like a FWD hatch - where of course the rears will struggle and twitch about the place...

Nice to see the clowns are out in force with all the previous responses....

I parted with my 11 month old M135i a few weeks ago. Like you, I was never sold on the looks and I didn't find it that special to drive - incredibly fast with a great gearbox but for me, it just lacked a sense of excitement or drama. I don't regret selling it which is good because I know I made the right choice.

I've traded down to an abarth 595 for now which I actually find more fun but for reasons I won't bore you with, it's up for sale lol

What next? If you were to buy new, are you interested in the current wrx sti or the forthcoming civic type r? Everything I've read about the RS Megane has been very positive as well.
