I am thinking about buying a S2 from italt but want to make sure that its legit before going ahead. What would I need to do if it turns ou to be ok??
I have attached the email from the guy I have been in contact with, does it seem ok or a con?
I would go over and make sure that it got on the plane or drive it back myself.

Here is the email.

Hi,
I am glad to hear that you are interested about my car.The car is in perfect conditions without any scratches or other mechanical problems.I will pay the shipping cost.I live in Italy. The car has a Clear Title wich you will receive it with the car.It can be registerd into your name. Also the car will arrive with all the documentations required for registration.I will ship the car via LUFTHANSA AIRPLANE CARGO Service.I sell it so cheap because i can't find a buyer in my country.I want to sell it in UK because the car is still registered there.I hope you understand this situation.I want to take this opportunity to assure you that this deal is 100% legitimate. This deal will happen through EBAY. So if you really want it please give me an email as soon as possible.
Thank you!

Call him then get Ryanair/EasyJet to Italy and drive it back yourself - make sure you take the cost of flying it back off the price of the car.

If it's UK registered it will show up for an HPI check so do that before you go.

Being silly, how do you do a HPI check? I have never done or had one done before.

This is a scam.

If it came through via a PH advert may be worth telling Ted as he has a filter which blocks them.

Next question.
Whats the value going to be of a 2000 S2 standard engine but with the sport tech kit, really good condition, some history and 50,000 miles going to be??
Oh and its the nice bright blue.
I know its hard as there are no pics and you cant see it but some idea would be good.

Personally I'd run a mile. Just exactly how much cheaper is it than buying one in this country? If is is literally thousands less then something is wrong. It may have been damaged and repaired in Italy and therefore will not show up on any HPI check done in the UK.

Now is a good time to buy an Elise. Hunt and haggle hard and there are plently of good deals in the UK.

As DustyC says, be careful!

There was one in Laser Blue which is the colour you're talking about here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4513655598#description but it has been removed as I think it was a scam (the colour made me think of this one). The auctionwas open to prer approved bidders etc etc and looked well dodgy.

FWIW that a Sports Tourer (higher spec than Race Tech) with that sort of mileage is worth £15k to £16k privately depending on condition but I'd get one with a proper service history and be very wary of ebay!

Don't bother - now's a great time to buy in the UK without the hassle or the risk of this.

Sounds suspiciously like a scam if you ask me. Not with your bargepole mate!

I agree entirely I would be running for the hills.

If it sounds too good to be true then it is!!!

I would steer clear. Even the language used in the reply sounds like one of those scam e-mails. Why can he not sell it in Italy? All sounds very dodgy to me. I don't think it is worth the risk. I have heard some real horror stories about stuff like this even with people who have been very cautious. Is it worth the risk???

I think this is almost certainly a scam... If something seems too good to be true then invariably it isn't. Ask the guy if he'll take cash on delivery - if he wants any kind of payment in advance then this should set alarm bells ringing.

It sounds like a similar scam I found on ebay with a Volvo V70. The guy had hijacked someone elses e-bay account and placed an advert with a rediculously low asking price. By asking for pre-approved bidding only, he was hoping that people would be enticed into sending him cash and expect their car to be sent on the next ferry to the UK. Unfortunately there are people gulible enough to send money to a total stranger and expect their car to arrive the following week - don't be one of them!

I'd put money on it being a scam.
