VW golf edition 30 or Honda Integra DC5
Discussion
Ed 30 I'd expect to be quicker and have a lot more usable power. Add the possibility of an inexpensive remap and it's fairly quick.
Integra supposed to be a fantastic drive with a great chassis.
What do you prefer, a NA setup where you rag the engine or a comfortable German turbo hatch. All comes down to preferences.
Two very different cars, take them for a drive and let us know your thoughts.

I'm not keen on the 1 series hatch
I wouldn't mind he 135i nuts that completely different ball park again
R32 mkv I've done already
S4 4.2 v8 I've done
Both the teg and ed30 on paper and what I've read are half sensible on fuel too
Which is an appealing factor
I find the GTi engine sinfully dull so would go for the Integra. I wouldn't mind he 135i nuts that completely different ball park again

I've driven the gti standard and agree it was dull and wouldn't label it as gti as it was like warm
But the ed30 as above mentioned with a remap is stronger with bigger turbo and so probably should have been what the gti is , which is the appealing factor
I like both turbo and revvy lol
If it was the only and main car then ed30 for the creature comforts
Fancy trying the dc5 if I find a suitable in budget and condition

I owned a dc5 for a while, very capable car. On track I would say a dc5 would be quicker. The chassis, diff and brakes are very good as standard bits of kit. Never owned a ed30 but have driven one on the road. May be a touch quicker on a straight. It would be a waste of a dc5 though to only drive in straight blasts. Both good cars, quite different though.

I'm pretty sure that I can help you here as I currently own a MK5 GTI and my previous car was a DC5. They are chalk and cheese. The DC5 is in every way the more exciting car. The Golf is dull in comparison but is good at what it does. Mine is remapped which does make for a fairly rapid car but the way it goes about it is efficient. In everyday real world driving the Golf is far more flexible, 400Nm of torque makes for lazy driving.
The only reason that I sold my DC5 was that I was in my eighth year of Type R ownership (had an EP3 Civic previously), it was pretty harsh for everyday use and was also driven by my wife (who did not rev it past 6K as it made too much noise!).
The grip, poise, engine, gearbox, interior and sound of the DC5 are immense. You cannot tire of revving that K20 all the way to 8500rpm. The way it goes round corners would leave a Golf wondering which way it had gone. The LSD was great, there is no such luxury in the Golf, just traction control which cuts the power or if you turn it off, the delicacy of your right foot to control wheelspin and understeer.
Around a track I would vote DC5 all day long. Everyday the Golf does what it says on the tin. My wife loves driving mine. I think that says all you need to know!

that's what i expected
i don't need something as comfortable as a golf, as it's not the main car.
i do however still fancy a dc5 and ed30, but think if i was to choose, go down dc5 route first.
i do feel like i'm a bit old for the type r appearance, but it's now or never lol
also dc5 can be had cheaper which is another focus point haivng spent more on the family car
I've got an EP3. I'd choose the Golf.
95% of the time it'll a much better and easier to live with car. The 5% will be when you're on an empty road that you know well in the dry with no traffic. Depends what you want though. One is quite raw by modern standards, the other is...well... a Golf.
