Mini First Cutting out

Got a 59 plate Mini First (1.4 & 46,000miles), had this from brand new and up to now, been brilliant and no faults. This weekend driving along (cold morning) it decided to cut out 5 times. its got the stop/start system but this happened when accelerating and general driving (albeit at low speed), once was from 2nd to 3rd gear change so I can't see how this would be the reason?
Booked this into Knights Mini for checkup but wanted to see if anyone else has had this before and if these are warning signs for something we need to know of before the garage drop a bill on our laps?
Its been fully maintained by Mini Blue Bell or MINI Knights with full up to date service history. For petrol it has been a mixture of Shell, ESSO and now and then Tesco as I've read somewhere poor fuel could cause potential cut outs, with this combination I would doubt poor fuel is a factor.
As with anything you Google these days, you can read some horror stories and this is the start of something hellish, or its just a filter that just needs changing so would be keen to see some feedback from anyone who has experienced similar or knows a thing or two about Mini's.
