I have fitted 5mm spacers at the front ,I can turn the nut 7 full turns ,is that enough ?

If not can anyone tell me what length studs i need and even better a link.

I`m also after a pair of reducing wheel spigots in aluminum but not sure of the size cheers

I have 5mm spacers on mine and can get 9 full turns on the nuts. I read somewhere that this was the minimum acceptable - but on whose authority, I don't know.

7 should be fine, a nut doesn't actually need more than about 4 turns, I think the MSA book says 1.5 x diam of stud.
New studs are really cheap though if you're worried

Why aluminum? Plastic spigot rings do an adequate job of making wheels that don't fit, well fit, along with spacers and extended studs, begs the question why you didnt buy wheels that actually fitted in the first place

Spacers are a big bug bear of mine.

Rally Design or I've no doubt they'll be some on Ebay somewhere.

Check length carefully, I think TVR used longer than what they call "standard" ?

With a wheel off screw a nut fully on to see how much thread it can accommodate scratchchin

Hi.
I have 10mm spacers on every side on my griff with the 17 inch ford seven spoke.
And have with my original studs exactly 6 1/2 turns of the bolts. This is the absolute minimum of turns to get it road legal here in Germany. So your 7 turns are fine because our laws are very strict.

I'd simply work out how much the originals screwed in then buy longer bolts chopping them down to the same spec taking into account the spacer thickness. It's about if they work loose they don't just drop off,,,, ???!
Even with loctite they can work loose!!

I have been using 5mm standard alloy spacers from my local car spares place (Allwoods) for about a year now (12,000 miles) with Ford standard fit wheels - no issues. You just need to torque your nuts up as normal and that's all. I have done several track days and lots of cross country driving with no ill effects. Much thicker, and you won't get enough turns on the nut, so IMHO avoid anything from 7mm upwards.

Sorry for digging up an old thread....

Does anyone know which extended studs would be required for a 10mm spacer? I'm away at the moment and can't measure my current studs.

I've seen these on rallydesign, but wasn't sure if they are long enough, or maybe too long?

https://www.rallydesign.co.uk/product_info.php?pro...

Thanks, Andrew.

That's correct, but i'm wondering about the overall length of the stud.
