Auction Sold prices Blackbushe
Discussion
Went to BCA last week, with an account holder, so the stock sheet shows, trade-in, cap, retail pricing etc.
On average about 50cent of good stock went at or near retail price! very little went at or near trade price, the rest in between. I knew it was expensive there but not THAT expensive.
I have no idea how these buyers turn a profit on the majority of cars there! or the quoted prices are so far off its unreal.

oto60,
Car auction houses, (unlike property auction houses), do not publish the results. The only way to find out the prices is to be there on the day.
I spent 10 years attending, mainly, closed manufacturers auctions, but on the rare occasions that I went to 'open' auctions the places were running with members of the public. In the trades eyes they were misguidedly 'jacking up' the prices. The trade buyers would start the bidding but soon drop out as 'Joe' started taking the bidding up way past the trade price.
There is a fallacy amongst people that attend car auctions. It is to do with the word 'auction'. They assume that that word means that no matter what the vehicle makes it must be cheap, BECAUSE IT'S AN AUCTION. Obviously very wrong. The BEST place to buy a car is privately, by the usual means. You have lots of time to inspect/drive/talk to the seller etc., etc., Buying from a car auction is rarely the best way.

You can get on these guys mailing list if that's any use.
They also send an email with sold prices after each sale.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Much appreciated.
Yep I know from past auctions I have been to that the cars normally go for on par or above what they should be going for.
I just happened to miss out on 9th october sale as there was a G class, G350 merc at auction and as a G lover, I was curious as to how cheap it might have gone for because a dealer is now selling said car at a significantly lower price, so he must have bagged a bargain
