996tt space saver tyre

As the space saver gets older it is less likely to retain a seal and begin to inflate as soon as you get the compressor going.Thanks in advance
If you can when running the compressor step on the tire or pull up or if you have already mounted the wheel to the car's hub push the tire in or pull it out to create a better seal with the tire bead against the rim. If you are successful the compressor will then proceed to inflate the tire.
I've never done this on a regular basis but you might consider periodically -- every year? -- treating the tire's sidewalls with some kind of tire conditioner.
BTW, the few times I've used the compressor it works better with the engine idling.
These spare/space saver tires are due to be replaced on time. IIRC reading somewhere Porsche calls for them to be replaced after 10 years.
Now don't everyone rush out and replace their old space tires at once.

While I haven't tried to buy one I bet my local Porsche dealer could get me one. I'd hate to think what it would cost, though.
Priced up myself yesterday and opc only sell complete wheel & tyre £300 gulp ! Problem seems to be the inner part to the tyre not seated on rim properly, time to get large screwdrivers out to reseat it or off to kwik fit to let them attack it, or all fails then eBay.
