Driving my 99 996 C4, when I get excited and rev over 5000 rpm , my ABS and PSM turn off. Maybe something to do with the MAF mass airflow sensor? Anyone else have these problems?

Porsche say they need to query the error log on the computer to see the precise error, but it'll be a hours labour and then 250/350 squid for the sensor.

Have read you can check and clean the sensor with alcohol.... anyone any idea what I'm talking about...

It's probably worth trying an independant specialist who will have proper mechanics that can repair the MAF. Porsche will just charge you for their fitters to replace the part

This is exactly the same problem as I had with my C2 2000 model.I changed the MAF sensor which was part number 996.606.124.00 and it solved the problem without any reprogramming or any involvment with the dealer. There is however 2 other sensors which I think are part numbers 996.606.123.00 and 996.606.125.00 the later of which is an updated version of the one I had and it does involve reprogramming.I tried to clean the sensor first but it made no difference so I ended up ordering one through my local Bosch agent £105 + VAT ( a bit cheaper than the £250 +vat from my OPC) and the car has been perfect since, in fact, it is actually running alot smoother and pulls better from low speed.

It looks like there is a problem with the quality of the Air Mass Sensor as I had to have mine replaced (at a good independant specialist) as I had the same problem. So far I know of 5 other owners who have had to do the same replacement.
