Next daft question. Heater matrix motor in engine bay????
Discussion
Morning all, as above, next curiosity with the 260e.
Looking into the engine bay, underneath the coolant tank, attached to two hoses that go to the heater/engine is a small motor.
This sounds like a bearing has gone and making a right old racket.
What's it called? I've googled it and can't find it anywhere

This?

It is a "circulation pump". Part number A001 835 13 64. A mere £175 at the dealer so you may want to look second hand! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mercedes-S-Class-W240-He...
I haven't double-checked the part numbers against your chassis, so don't rely on me.
