Having once had an S with a heater that worked wonderfully, I now have the option of cold air or none. A quick search on PH leads me to think the doobrie under the bonnet may be the problem, but the bible hasn't got any pictures. Anyone with a pic top show me what to thump, err.. lubricate?

The slider works fine, just doesn't feel like its doing anything. The next option is to look at the inside of the dash, but thats a bugger of a job to get at..

IN this photo

it's the black thing in the hose that looks as if it goes from the back of the alternator, back to the bulkhead beside the brake fluid reservoir. You can see the other end of the cable that goes back to the slider control, going back through the bulkhead (obscured by the bonnet stay in this pic)

hope that helps

Brilliant, thanks for that.. I'll take a look tomorrow. With a bit of luck I'll have warm feet again soon. Bloody hope so, about a thousand miles to do before new year and I could do with a functioning heater..

Anyone know where the other heater control cable goes? The cable that changes the heated air flow from the windscreen to the footwells I mean. I disconnected mine while laquering the dash and cant get it back in position without loosening it off..

Can't make it as our Bournemouth trip starts quite early and finishes late, depending upon which scenic route we take, A272 gets my vote

Quick update while I think.. If the slider in the dash doesn't work, might be worth trying the valve by hand. For some reason, I can quite happily adjust the temp by adjusting the valve under the bonnet. Looks like something under the dash is not connected. Looks like a bugger of a job to reattatch too..

At least my feet are warm now..
