3P's adventure to financial ruin (GT86 insanity inside)

When you say modify the lights into something different, dear god don't tint them black!
I imagine (hope) the plan is something like the Toms all-red tail lights, which are what the GT86/BRZ should have come with in the first place.
Really like these, currently first choice for my next car.
"Negatives include firm suspension, which feels unpleasent where I live thanks to the bad roads, and the rattles in the interior. "
i'd say it's proper sports suspension, which is actually quite well balanced as opposed to just plain firm (like an orthodontist's Audi).
True, you do feel everything on the road. it is a driver's car....
The rattles can exist. join a forum, plenty advice on how to cure them. BluTac and velcro are your friends. I got my 1 yr old demo from a dealer, either it was perfectly built or (more likely) the dealer cured all the rattles.
They are fabulous cars and really should be more in demand by people who like driving. They're not a good for someone doing 15k+ a year, or whose priority is image and soft fascias.

Great choice, I really enjoyed a test drive of one of these. Even compared to exotica, one of the best drives out there at the moment.
With a ECU map and matched bolt ons, is possible to bridge the flat spot between 4-5k and add a noticeable amount at the top end.

Lot of bolts on's including cat removal so loads of money must be getting on for £2k ? for a 10% power increase , I appreciate the drivability may be improved a bit but that seems pretty pointless to me With a ECU map and matched bolt ons, is possible to bridge the flat spot between 4-5k and add a noticeable amount at the top end.

Would have to be FI for me thats just not worthwhile imo
To those asking about the lights, no I will not smoke. The plan is to paint the housing black or red because the chrome is pretty ugly and doesn't go well with the car. Then I will probably cut apart the indicator side and try to turn it into something a little more funky. Running/brake lights will stay as they are as I quite like them. As for the reverse/fog I will probably get the Valenti light bar.
I've seen Dave's build and it is quite nice, but I don't want to do 'just another' FI conversion so will go for something a little more unique... and extreme.

To be honest it is mostly the roads where I live are terrible. Just today a massive pothole formed. Elseware the ride is very much acceptable but still a bit shakey sometimes. There are guides to lessen the rattles but it is annoying still, although I fortunately don't have too many. Worst thing is probably the raindrops on the roof, they sound like bullets, but there is no sound deadening there to save weight so I can live with that. I do 15k miles a year in mine - coming from an Exige/Westfield, the GT is the height of luxury!i'd say it's proper sports suspension, which is actually quite well balanced as opposed to just plain firm (like an orthodontist's Audi).

As a small update, I've recently gotten my hands on another RX8 for track use as it was pretty cheap. This one is mostly stock except intake and exhaust system and has an engine rebuilt 10'000 miles ago, which is good I suppose. Not bad for £1700. Will probably strip it out sometime in spring. More on this in the future.
Back to the GT86, while i'm planning where to go with my lights, I've started pondering about exhausts and rear diffusers. So at present i'm conflicted between what I prefer. What do you folks think?
Option 1 is to keep it how it is.

The second option is to go with something a little different, in a similar style to this. Somebody has actually done one in the US.
