High revs - slow moving. At what age does the rot set in?

Just a query really -
I'm half a century and a bit and I'm just wondering how many more years can I expect to use 'normal' clutch/throttle control before the affliction of revving the nuts out of engine whilst keeping your foot planted on the clutch to manoeuvre a car at a snails pace (particularly prevalent when using reverse gear) might strike me?

I don't want to be left out .....
I want little kids to be deafened and stare in wonderment at the noise of 7000 rpm coupled with a speed of 1 mph.
I want everybody within a 200 meter radius of any kind of parking manoeuvre to be scared to death by the sheer din - knowing that with one slip of the clutch I could wipe them out.
I want to wake my all my neighbours when leaving home early or arriving home late

A worn-out clutch.

Depends on the person. With my Grandparents, Great Uncles and Aunts I'd say just after 80 is when they started to get properly dodgy.

I think you're well above the average given the elderly TVR louts on here wink

Buy a Corsa.

Buy a Corsa with a knackered timing chain.

Buy a Cerbera.

biggrin

In all seriousness, don't worry yourself about such issues. The type of noddy that doesn't realise 6,000rpm isn't the optimal clutch bite point has probably never actually taken a car to 6,000rpm before. If you have a modicum of interest in what an engine is doing, you'll be fine. Jackie Stewart is 75 and will easily wipe most PHers out on a track.

My neighbour does the last one.
Revs the hell out of his Suzuki Alto whenever he pulls away...anywhere and at any time.

Yet because he is old and as deaf as my right foot he gets away with it. If I sat outside bouncing my car off the limiter at 3am I would be more my neighbors worst enemy.

Not just parking.
