Well the body arrived yesterday and I must say how fantastic it looks, such a far cry from my cobra body when it came out of the mould.

I'm currently pre-fitting the side pods which I must admit seem to have gone well.

Until......

As per the Build CD you have to measure from the front corner towards the back a total of 1230mm. Which is fine in itself but I thought I'd see if the distance from the rear of the panel to the mark was the same distance. Nope, it was about 12mm out on one side.

Is this normal and makes sense?

Cheers

My bodywork arrived exactly a year ago, so I know how you must feel!

The CD has been updated since I put mine together so unable to help with specific measurements, but the offside pod on mine is closer to the rear wheel than the nearside by about 10mm.
Is that what you mean?

It won't all fit absolutely spot on I'm afraid. (Well mine didn't)

Hi Gary,

It's difficult to describe (I think).

If you measure 1230mm from the front corner of the side pod towards the rear of the car as per the build cd and draw a line on the body.

If you then measure from the line to the rear part of the side pod that goes vertical to meet the cockpit there is a difference of about 12mm.

I'm sure this can still be measured on a completed car to see if this is true.

Cheers

10 mm is about the norm, for misalignment, if you know about it in advance you can massage some of it out,i,ve checked several factory built cars and they have the same problem!

Hi,

To help explain the issue (which you may have answered) I've just posted 2 pics up on my website under the build diary (www.ultima-gtr.co.uk).

There's actually a 17mm difference in the two sides from the 1230mm mark.

Thanks

Michael

I've checked all the other measurements and they are spot on.

Hi Mike. From memory there is about 12mm difference in the length of the sidepods on my can-am. I'm part way thro fitting the bodywork (seem to have been doing it for ever!). I followed the manual when fitting the sidepods and spent ages getting a 'good fit', only to move it all about again when I fitted front and rear bulkheads, and again when fitting front and rear clips etc. I am away until the new year so can't measure it til then. Not sure if the dimensions will be the same for the GTR, but will measure and post when I get back.
