musicMagpie - Which of these services gives the best return?

Has anyone used the musicMagpie or equivalent services? I've loads of CDs/DVDs etc I want to get rid of, but I want to ensure I get the best return and musicMagpie, due to their marketing, is the only one I know of. Are there better paying alternatives?

FWIW, I looked into getting rid of some old DVDs using these organisations but the amount of money offered was so minimal it really wasn't worth the bother.

I thought about that but a) its way more hassle and b) the returns are still hammered down after they take their cut. While the likes of Magpie are low return, they do at least make it very little hassle. Scan in a load of stuff, they send you a box with postage, you send it off, they pay you.

I've used them (mm),took several weeks and phone calls to get the money though.

To get an idea of how much you might get from Music Magpie look up your items on Amazon and find out how much Zoverstocks are asking for it. Zoverstocks is the selling arm of Music Magpie, you'll typically be offered a quarter of the listed price.

Or just type the barcode or even use your smartphone's camera to scan the barcode and get the price direct on the website?

I realise they offer very little but the original question is whether there are more services like this and of those, which offer the best return...

None of them offer any meaningful money unless you've got new release or very rare stuff, and if it's rare ebay will pay you much more, or even your local record collector shop. For run of the mill efforts they were offering under a quid a go, so I bunged mine to the local charity shop.
