Hi everyone,

newbie alert smile any chance to get a full spec of a car just with the registration number? I know how you can do it with VIN but not just with the reg number. I want to see if the car has everything I want before calling the seller.

appreciate your help

There's various ways to get the info - online extended warranty companies for BMW and Audi allow you to enter a reg and get the VIN. You then go onto the BMW owners area on the UK web site and look up parts, then there's an option to use the last 7 digits of the VIN to detail the option spec.

Or as in this case if you work in a dealer you'll have a system smile

Adrian,

that's great, thanks for the tip. I have used BMW VIN system before, it was just getting the VIN which was the sticky point.

what about the outstanding finance part? is that not part of the HPI checks?

appreciate your help

THe reason for mentioning the BMW one as well, particularly if you're looking at either a BMW or Audi, is that if they're already covered by an extended warranty or factory one you usually can't use the vehicle's own scheme to get the VIN, but the alternative one won't know it's covered and will give up the required VIN info!
