Thank you to the coward who damaged my car last night outside my home and didn't leave a note.

There is no way they didn't feel / hear it as they've managed to scrape every single panel down to metal/plastic on the passenger side, and even put a fair dent in the tridion (which I'm hoping doesn't write the car off but it might).

It's not much, but it's MY car, it's no Lamborghini and it "only" cost me £5k and it wasn't even new when I bought it, but it's done more miles with me than anyone else, it's taken us on trips, holidays and to work and back every day, top on or off, without ever failing to put a smile on my face.

In return I've washed, polished, waxed and vacced it to make sure it's cleaner and shinier than it was when it was new, even going to the odd car show for a laugh where it didn't look that out of place next to much more exotic machinery.

So it's really heartbreaking to see it with scratches and damage down the entire side - I would have felt 'better' if it had been my fault (at least then it would just be me to blame), not some faceless coward who drove their car down it then drove off.

I hope something really, *really* bad happens to whoever did it. Karma is a bh.

Sorry, crap rant I know but I'm honestly too gutted.

Pointless thread without pictures, but hate it when this happens, someone dented my passenger side twice with their car door and put a scrape on rear quarter, 140,000 7 year old fiesta but didn't give them the right to just leave

Shandyboy - my wife parked her car on a street near her work, and something had propery hit it on the passenger side wheel. It physically broke and bent parts, damaged the bodywork, all sorts.

We dont know who did it.

We got it fixed for £700 by our local friendly helpful honest top-bloke mechanic.

Again, like you, there is no way the person didnt know they hit the vehicle. If it were my vehicle, I would be furious, but this left my wife stranded. My wife is deaf, she is more vulnerable than most people. And this person left her with no easy way to get home.

If now I found out who did it, I would still want to kill them for leaving my wife in such a state.

Fecking swines. People don't seem to give a thought to other's cared for possesions any more. Find a bodyshop you can trust and it'll be fixed for less than you think, doesn't make it any less galling right now of course.

'thatdude' that's awful - hopefully there is a special place reserved in hell for people that do this.

Sorry for lack of pictures - I'm not sure it looks as bad as it does in the flesh - the front bumper, door and rear bumper are all plastic so look like they deformed and popped back out, so they're mainly just deeply scuffed (down to the black plastic).

The tridion (the safety cell bit that goes round the occupants) is scratched down to bare metal all along the bottom sill and the middle bit (which is also sporting a sizeable dint).

Terrible luck OP, sadly this is the way the UK is now. A friend found someone put a massive dent in the side of his 350Z a while ago, of course no note.

By the way it's not about that value of the car, it is about respecting others property and doing the right thing.

Anyway, hope you manage to find a cheap repair.

What car please?

Forward/rear facing road cam with impact sensors would sort that out. Give the bds a shock when Mr Plod knocks on the door!!

It's just a Smart roadster...

Just got back from body shop - they seemed quite upbeat about it and it's booked in for a week's time. Now to decide whether to claim or not (insurance have already been made aware and it would go down as a fault claim due to no party to claim from, though I have protected ncd.)

£500 excess though, ouch.

Thanks, thought it was, always liked them bought have bought one if they had a manual box and no turbo.

I thought they were designed so panels were easy to swap?

Apart from the Tridion safety cell which is the basis of the cabin section and has exposed section.

It's sad that we've got to this state. frown

I got out to my car the other morning to discover someone had engraved a circle, about 5 inches across, with something sharp into my bonnet. In addition they left a vertical line of about 3 inches down the side of the wing. Both have gone right through the paint layer down to the metal.

No idea. For what difference it makes this was in a relatively small, quiet village too. frown

(The Starion has now sadly moved on, but to someone with the time to fully restore- which was what it needed. I did around 30,000 miles in it in all weather over 6 or so years so it had earned it!)

doesn't look too bad, but then you shouldn't have to pay for it.

A few years ago the neighbor opposite had visitors who reversed into the rear quarter of my dads driving school micra, they drove off but they know we saw them, we approached the owner of the house when she returned (walking) and she denied it until we pointed out the CCTV. Needless to say the driver was uninsured and panicked, my dad got the cash to repair it but couldn't charge for loss of earnings for the 2 days it was in a bodyshop.

2 months later the same girl crashed into a maestro owned by two old dears a few doors down, clipped the wheel and wrote it off, she got out and ran, but everyone saw her. Old people didn't want the hassle despite several witnesses willing to go to court to pinpoint the driver, he scrapped the car and didn't replace it.

Actually quite funny as she was a grown woman, same micra, a local scally was playing football whilst walking down the road, football hit micra, large football dent in back boot, he actually knocked and admitted to it, asked if he could pay £10 a week, turned out to be a decent honest lad, only 16 at the time, CCTV picked neither incident up, car ended up being parked on the drive after both of these

So happy to have it back and see the back of the dull-as-dishwater Peugeot 107...

This - the creeping casual rudeness/lack of respect/consideration for others that is staring to pervade this country - other symptoms include people who talk on their mobile at (manned) shop checkouts, feet on seats on public transport, people who don't say thank you when shown any kind of courtesy, people who park appallingly because it's vital they park right outside the shop/their house rather than walk a few yards, the fact that when you let someone coming the other way on a narrow road through, fewer and fewer people give the vestigial wave of thanks...
