How do I describe this noise? Somewhere between and rattle and a rumble. First thing in the morning when I go to work I get a strange rumble/rattle from the front nearside wheel if it goes over any bumps/holes in the road. We are talking about drain covers, pot holes no matter how small and other imperfections in the road surface all causing the wheel do omit a noise I can hear inside. I will be having a look at the weekend but before I do I' was wondering if there is anything on the Monaro that I should be aware of I'm talking common problems or common parts that fail and can cause this sort of thing. Naturally I'll be in about the ball joints and track rods having a good but the noise isn't a good one.

It may be nothing but I'm 90% sure that something is misbehaving. Handling, Braking and acceleration are all unaffected and I don't believe it's a wheel bearing (not that sort of noise and not consistent enough, as stated it's only going over bumps that causes it).

Any advice on 'gotchas' is welcome smile Cheers.

If its anything like the VXR8 it will be on one of the suspension arms, they have plastic sleeves around the ball, in the joint, it only takes a small amount of rust and they wear out causing play,

Could be the track rod ends. Cheap and easy to replace, but because you'll almost certainly need the alignment redone after replacement, I'd do them both.

Check Anti Roll Bar Link & also pads chattering in caliper carrier , you could eliminate that by left foot braking when you get the noise , be careful if your not use to left foot braking you dont stand it on end
