Evening,

So I've taken the plunge and bought a Tiger Cat (Or it may be a SuperCat I'm not entirely sure yet).

Anyway I'm trying to figure out exactly what Zetec Engine is in it so that I can ensure that I order the right Cambelt.

Engine number I am pretty sure is FU00145REC.

After looking here: http://www.toyne.org.uk/zetec-engine.html

And various other places. I reckon the engine is a phase 1 Zetec (Based on it saying DOHC on the camshaft cover) but REC doesn't feature.

I'm a bit confused though as here: http://www.burtonpower.com/tuning-guides/tuning-gu...

suggests that FU is a 1985 manufacture year.

Can anyone shed any light? The Cam Cover is metal and painted black.

Thanks

Phase 1 silvertop have a one piece sump, phase 2 blacktops have a two piece.

Rocker looks like a silvertop.

Other differences, silvertop have hydraulic lifters, black top solid.

Here is a list of engine numbers -
http://www.talkford.com/community/topic/223064-dif...

My 2.0l silvertop had nga stamped on the block. There was also a date stamp as well.

Engine number is on a flat by the gearbox face iirc made by punch marks (dots), date stamp is on the side of the block just above the exhaust port (circle with year in middle, number of dots in segments is months).

I would be surprised if it was a 1985 as they did not start making the zetec until 1991.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

I'm sure I've got the right place for the engine number. I'll check the year of manufacture stamp tomorrow.

I think I'll take the cam cover off to double check the lifters.

I've also emailed tiger the chassis number and asked them to confirm!

It looks like there are only 2 different cambelt options. 129 teeth and 131 teeth.

I'll count mine once I get the front end off.

That will help confirm it I reckon.
