I've been looking at Impreza's and Evo's and have decided an Impreza seems the better purchase for the cash, there certainly seems more tidy cars for the same money anyway. So the next question is, which is the best to go for? I've looked at everything from 2 door V3's to blob eye STI's.

Any suggestions are helpful to be honest, I'm pretty open to the car itself, the intention is to pretty much buy on condition.

As I didn't put the thread up until late on last night I'll do a bump for the day shift.

How about something a little left field and go for a Forester STI? Something I'm looking at investigating. Might hold their value a little better as well and IMO less likely to have been abused as much. Not that much slower around a track either, so on the road the differences will be minimal.

Just a thought.

I have looked at the Forester as a random choice, but then keep going back to the Impreza/Evo choice. It's an itch I need to scratch more than anything else. The cars only going to be used at weekends as I walk to work, so fuel and servicing isn't a huge issue, it's only going to be doing 6k or so a year.

If practicality is important then the best possible Blobeye WRX wagon, and you'll still be under budget. Otherwise I'd say a pre-widetrack Blobeye STi (2003-04). Doubt you'll get a good widetrack (2005) car for your budget, you never know though! The STi is more on a par with Evos for performance but cost more to insure and run in general. They are arguably a less forgiving daily prospect than a WRX.

The cleanest UK spec STi you can find in budget imo.

You may find one that's been owned by an older chap who's less likely to have thrashed it. The type that wears one of those rather fetching 555 WRC jackets. You know the type. Much harder to find an Evo like this.
