Hiring a Mustang/Corvette 1 way from New York to Chicago

[topless360]

We're planning an American road trip next year and I'd like to hire a convertible Mustang/Corvette/Camaro to drive from NYC to Chicago.

I've tried the usual suspects online and not had much luck in finding someone who can guarantee a particular car. I've still got a few places to check/call but wondered if anyone here had done anything similar and who they would recommend using?

We need to be able to return the car to Chicago O'Hare Airport, but can pick up from anywhere in NYC.

It won't be cheap but have you tried Avis Prestige?

Petrolhead Nirvanna use Hertz Gold for their American Dream Tour - their service seemed good. One of the other attendees on the trip had an issue with her Corvette after a few days and the nearest Hertz Gold franchise happily swapped it for one of their other 'Vettes. Also, when we booked the trip over 6 months in advance we chose what car we wanted and got that same car, as did everyone else.

Also, go for a Corvette!
