Xmas Eve Journey
Discussion
Well...that was interesting.
Upto Chesterfield...not a problem, well ok it was busy)
Up the M1 north of Chesterfield not a problem.
Jnt 36, I know there is a Shell garage just off the dual carriage way, so Optimax time.
Oooo A616 to Manchester, right we can cut the corner and go that way.
First problem...when did the b@stards Specs the A616? Rotten buggers.
Second problem...A628 over the top. Hammer down off the roundabout, overtake the guy Id been following and...ooo this is twitchy going up here, lets shove main beam on.

Oh
! So...its snowing then. Ahh and there is snow n slush on the ground. Cue the next 30 mins of sideways action in a Griff with bugger all left in the washer bottle, sometimes on decent main beam and sometimes on crappy headlights as other cars come from opposite direction. Then we hit a blizzard comming level, straight at the windscreen.
What a welcome back to Lancashire greeting for Gruff! Never had to concentrate so hard when driving a car in my life, never had to use so much skill either.
Got thru in one piece, picked up the 67, 60, 61 and finally the 6 now in driving rain & sleet, which contined really all the way till Preston and the 55 to take me home.
In total 335 miles, £55 of Optimax, 63 ltr of fuel ...24-5 mpg. Not too bad
Oh and I forgot, this was all at about 1am Xmas Eve/Xmas Morning!
And to cap it all off, having survived all this, washed the car today with dad...and he put his hand thru the rear screen. Succeeded in pushing the perspex screen away from the stitching in the hood! Thanks dad!
Merry Xmas to y'all and a Happy Blackpool New Year
