I was woken at 4:30 this morning by a series of thumps from outside. By the time I got to the window and opened the blinds all I saw was three 'youths' walking away. I later went to check our car and one of the little darlings had run up the bonnet and stamped on the roof causing a stonking great dent.

I know it's only our daily snotter, an '05 Fiesta diesel, but it didn't deserve that treatment, poor little thing. It's been reported but because I didn't see the damage being done I wasn't even asked for a description of who I saw walking away. No CCTV unfortunately so little chance of catching the moron who did it - the bd!

If it's dry it will be worth calling the Police as there may be a palm or fingerprint. This seems to be a fairly fashionable thing to do amongst 'kids'. Do you live near a park or where was there any kind of event going on?

I did ask for some assistance when a plague of this was blighting my area but received no assistance whatsoever from the PH community. People seem keener to grass up non payers of VED. It didn't take much digging to identify the miscreant in our case. These idiots are creatures of habit and crap on their own doorsteps, or the doorsteps of their regular haunts. They're also disloyal gobstes and in our case a backhander (financial!) provided the identity. I don't think he'll be doing it again, which is all I will say about it on a public forum, despite the inevitable jibes.

The guy who trod on 9MM's car after a long drive to a quiet spot in the countryside:

OP that is very annoying. Hope the police catch the bd. How much is a cheap CCTV on a 12 hour hard drive loop nowadays?

That was me last time I criticised the Nissan GTR ownership profile.

This was twinkle toes:

If only.

Right now that's exactly what I'd like to do to the scrote who did it. The first price I was quoted for a repair was way over £1000! I'd hoped (still do) that PDR can be used to fix it, does anyone have an opinion about that? Any PDR operatives in PH?

I know that it probably wont work, but have you tried removing the front seats and crouching in the middle of the car before forcing your back against the roof in order to pop it back out?

There was a thread about a Porsche that had a much worse dent in the roof removed completely by PDR a couple of years ago, so it's probably worth giving a local dealer a ring and asking which dent man they use. The ones that service dealerships tend to be better in my experience.

Was thinking something along the same lines.

Get your mates to come down and push up at the same time at each corner?

This.

I had a load of snow land on the roof of one of my cars and I just gave the underside a good whack and it popped back out

I used to work in a pub and some tit used my Golf GTI MK1 as a set of step onto the roof to do a post World Cup match celebration, luckily he was seen and the landlord barred him until he sorted it out, which cost him £400, I skimmed it with filler, got a vinyl roof (black on a black car, looked ok) and pocketed the rest.

I still need to kill him though, finally got with a girl I had been after for ages, she then kind of disappears and next thing I find out she is going out with him, I was literally hours from sealing the deal as well.

Seriously, don't do anything before a PDR specialist looks at it!

Unfortunately in this country of 60 million, there is a fair smattering of inconsiderate loutish vandals who have little regard for the property they trash.

Hope you find a quick and inexpensive fix.

Happened to my title Citroen ax when I was 17, the big dent in the roof pushed out, by there wasa smaller dent on the edge of the roof where they stood before jumping off, wasn't economical to repair. The car despite being 10 years old was immaculate

Forgot to add, we had a spate of it, it always happened to cars facing in the direction of the local pub, if you faced your car the other way they couldn't simply run over it.

The down side to this was the wing mirrors would get smashed off, where if the car was facing the other way they'd just get folded in.

Wouldn't this sort of thing be more appropriated pulled out with suction cups rather than hit from the other side?

I saw a video on youtube where they expand and contract the metal using a heatgun and some sort of compressed air (which is ice cold). Large dents just popped out.

Some mindless FU@K done this to my dads car whilst he was sitting in it. Luckily for them he was not fast enough to catch them double luck no damage that could not be polished out was done. Its the same as people who scratch cars, I had the Rangie one day, one fu@king day and some dribbling mouth breathing C@NT ran a key down the side of it. These kind of people need killing very very slowly and very very painfully and their bodies desecrating but no we have the do gooding clowns that take pity on the poor mites and say that they should be helped and so the circle continues.

Someone did this to a courtesy car I had once. I simply pushed it out with my feet from inside the car. Couldn't see the damage afterwards!

After growing increasingly fed up with looking at the dent, this morning I thumped the underside of the roof several times with the flat of my hand and it's just about gone. It was worth a try and it worked!
