One of my all time favourite cars stunning from every angle sounds wonderful great colour schemes and has to be one of the all time top 5 cars in any classic car fantasy garage.

However the one thing I'd rather it didn't have is eye lashes - apart from that its perfection.

The SV came without them, didn't it?

Not that I'll ever be in a position to complain about them, but I suspect that other faults (poor ergonomics, poor high speed aerodynamics) are more significant in reality. Still, without a doubt one of the all-time greats.

They used to set themselves on fire sometimes..

Bad aerodynamics at higher speeds too created a lot of lift at the front afik

The front lights. They ruin an otherwise very pretty car.

Edit: I see Beefy has already highlighted this, but perhaps not as strongly.

I might be making this up but didn't they have reliability problems with the gearbox and engine being in one casting? I'm sure I absorbed that in my young years reading all the old practical classics.

Its a 1960s supercar
Probably a better idea to have it in a glass case and admire than to try and live with it.

front end takes off at 130 mph
carbs always going out of balance/overfuelling flooding and fire
no chokes
windscreen raked to low so becomes a mirror instead of a window
steering wheel in the right place for a monkey not for a man
pedals too far offset
becomes a sauna in the sun
filler cap only allows very slow refueling or constant cutting out
Lambos performance figures were somewhat generous
Only 7 uk RHD made

Would I have one?
Yes in a heartbeat

Was that the one at the start of the Italian Job, where the driver got blown up in a tunnel? If so stunning choice. I like the Espada myself.

My poster car as a youngster was the Maserati Bora.

It was the one at the start of the Italian Job.
I remember someone telling me a story that they were restoring a fire damaged one. They called the previous owner and said "we're working on your old Muira". He said - which one, I had three. They said - the one that caught fire. He said, all three did that....
I still would, though. In my all time top three cars I'd love to own.

I think it's a bowel complaint.

Again, this was resolved on the SV model, I believe, by dividing the gearbox casing and the engine sump.

And whoever complained that it had no chokes, go stand at the back of the class!

You don't need chokes on Webers, just a few pumps of the throttle before turning the key, then when it catches, keep blipping the throttle until it's warm enough to hold idle. It's an essential part of the drama, and scarcely a hardship listening to the Miura's V12 warming up?

It doesn't drive nearly as well as it looks.

A local guy had one, he was reportedly reluctant to use it as it was prone to spitting back and setting the air filters on fire. He made a tidy profit though when it was sold at the height of the nineties classic car boom.
