Hi everybody,

As part of my university project I am looking into the effectiveness of sun visors in combatting glare from the sun whilst driving.

Below is the justification for my survey.

Glare from the sun is a common cause of road accidents. It can be argued that it is ‘responsible for around 3,900 road injuries every year’ and has caused an ‘average of 28 road deaths each year since 2010’ (AA, 2014). This clearly justifies glare from the sun as an issue whilst driving and if its effects can be reduced; significantly less accidents, injuries and deaths will occur.

It would be much appreciated if you could spare 5 minutes to complete the survey! If you have any improvements or issues with the questionnaire please let me know.

Thanks a lot!

The survey doesn't cater very well for cars without sun visors. smile

Thanks guys, this is really useful.

The sun visor design seems to have remained mostly un changed over the years and from my personal experience it does not provide that much help in some circumstances.

I am also having trouble choosing what to do for my final year project so this research will hopefully help put me in the right direction!

Unclip and spin to block out sun from side.

If you were to climb aboar a Saab 9-5, you'd find double sun visors... Drop one down, unclip and spin to the side to cover the side windows. Then... there's a second which just flaps down to cover the front screen!

Curse that the visor is too short to cover the window and you still have a gap between visor and B-pillar.

Elise's. Some owners get a strip to cover the top bit of the windscreen, not sure how good they are...
