Hi all, I’m after a bit of advice. I have a 2012 Panamera Diesel with 34k on the clock with a really good spec (rear entertainment system…). I just cant get on with the seats and want to order a brand new Panamera with the 18 way adaptive seats.

However I fear the dealer is going to give me a rubbish price on the one I have now so what is the chance I can sell it on privately? its still under warranty until mid 2015.

I was hoping to get £45.5k for it which seems to be around what they go for. Do people really buy cars like this privately or do I need to take my medicine and sell it to the dealer?

I think you might struggle. I tried to sell a cal privately a few years ago worth half that. Despite having 18 months of Audi warranty remaining, and pitching it a couple of grand less than dealer prices, I only had one serious call and no serious viewings.
Rightly or wrongly, it seems buyers are nervous of purchasing privately, even with outstanding warranty.

People definitely buy cars privately though that is a bit easier when there's no finance on the car. Depends on how happy you are doing all the leg work and time etc dealing with private buyers and the risks involved. You could go SOR with one of the Porsche specialists but they will need the car physically so that may not work for you.

If you're buying a new car to spec I'd probably put three or four dealers in competition with your current car as a trade in personally.

Establish the 'trade-in' figure and then pitch it privately with a 'mark up' above that.

Presentation will be key - needs to look its very best to sell.

When is the next Generation Panamera due - can't be far off ? - I'd be waiting for that to protect against depreciation on the purchase.
